Plot Outline: Coverage of professional football featuring teams from the National Football League airing on Monday nights during the NFLs regular season.
Plot: “Are you ready for some football?!” That six-word lyric, as bellowed out each week by country music superstar Hank Williams Jr., preluded each “NFL Monday Night Football” game, the first successful attempt to air a National Football League (NFL) football game in prime-time. Each week, two teams (as chosen months in advance by the NFL) met in what has become a Monday night tradition. Usually, a trio of sports-casters (a play-by-play announcer joined by a color commentator and an analyst) called the action. Half-time interviews with coaches and players, and sideline reports after outstanding plays were also innovations that contributed to the appeal of these games. Many of the games proved to be exciting, though sometimes the games were boring (especially if the teams were a mismatch or not very good, a necessary risk since the games were scheduled months in advance). Often serving as part of the announcing team were former NFL greats including OJ Simpson, Dan Dierdorf, Joe Namath and Lynn Swann.

Near the end of the Goldberg vs Lesnar match a Hulk Hogan impersonator in the nosebleeds managed to get nearly the entire crowd focused on him instead of the match. This lead to many of the fan members noticeably turning their heads to the upper right of the TV screen and as well as “popping” for him and starting many “Hogan” chants. The crowds attention would remain on the man until redirected to the match by a Goldberg Spear.

This was Kanes first WrestleMania without his mask.

According to Brock Lesnar in Power Slam issue 162, he and Goldberg did not want to be there performing in front of the fans. This was both their last matches with the company and resulted in fans ripping into Lesnar with chants such as You sold out and Na, Na, Na, hey hey good bye.

Plot Outline: When the Iranian National Soccer team comes to America to play the U.S. team, BABAK is their captain…
Plot: When the Iranian National Soccer team comes to America to play the U.S. team, BABAK is their captain. He is the young, handsome face of the team with the quick moves of a lightweight boxer. Simply stated, he is the star. Babaks older brother MOURAD (once a fine player in his own right – but never having the talent of Babak) is attached to the team as they tour the States – perhaps only to handle his brother. The two are very close, but differ ideologically in that Mourad is much more fundamental. The story begins with the Iranian team playing the U.S. squad in Los Angeles. We learn that Babak had been approached months earlier in Iran about possibly staying in the U.S. to play for the local professional team. Babak receives a one million dollar signing bonus to join the Los Angeles Vipers pro team just prior to the end of their regular season and help their chances in the playoffs. Mourad is incensed by his brothers decision and attempts to explain that Babak is compromising his life on many levels – patriotically, religiously, and most importantly, the abandonment of family. Babak can never go home. Babak meets SORAYA, a beautiful, charming Iranian/American whos an up and coming reporter for a national Cable Sports Channel and the sister of the Vipers owner. The two young people have an immediate attraction. Her brother, DR. SHAFAIAN, is a very powerful figure in the local Iranian community. Although he professes to be a friend to Babak, until the end we are unaware of where Dr. Shafaians loyalties lie. The pressures of a new country, a new soccer team, his brothers cynicism, and the involvement with Soraya all come to a head as the Vipers play the Dallas Panthers for the Championship. Adding to the anxiety is a blackmail plot – threatening to imprison Mourad and the rest of his family should Babak stay, or perhaps be imprisoned himself should he try to return to Iran. This compelling immigrants story is how ones life is impacted by the decisions of life, family, religion, and morality that face every person chasing the American Dream.
